SOLVIN is also a producer and supplier of vinylidene chloride monomer (VDCM, 1,1-Dichloroethene; 1,1-dichloroethylene). This versatile molecule is the raw material for numerous specialty applications. Of course the major one is the production of polyvinylidene c hloride copolymers, commonly known collectively as PVDC.
Vinylidene chloride has other useful applications. It
- easily polymerizes with a broad range of other monomers like acrylic esters, vinyl chloride, butadiene, styrene, maleic anhydride etc., and
- can be used as an organic synthesis intermediate for pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and catalytic products.
